Estive lived a dozen years at my side and she was an extraordinary bitch, very steady and very sociable, who always lived in the house but who did not like people who were drunk or on drugs. Her first mistress, the breeder of her mother, did not like her, and Estive was very unhappy there, shut in a kennel and no doubt beaten by a man who drank or took drugs, because Estive could not bear them! After her first litter in Belgium, the breeder got rid of her; it was an ultimatum, either I took her back, or she would have her put down!!!! Done, in Paris at a Championnat de France, I collected her, very disoriented for a few days, and then, after a week, Estive had found her joy in life again and her excellent behaviour, entirely normal. She produced some superb puppies for me. She was the daughter of our splendid Brise tole, Élite A (SCC grade 6), and of Débye du mas de Beauvoisin.
